Madison Academy girls and boys basketball teams advance to final
Both the girls and boys basketball teams from Madison Academy won in AHSAA 3A semi-final games today. The girls beat T.R. Miller 81-36 and the boys beat Central-Hayneville 63-36. The girls next play on Friday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at the BJCC in Birmingham. The boys next play on Friday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. at the BJCC in Birmingham.
For the girls, Haley Stewart was the leading scorer with 28 points. Also scoring were: Ellen Pointer, 18 points; Lydia McGee, 22 points; Nyla Johnson, 25 points; Christine Milton, 11 points; Hannah McGee, 4 points; Amara Mayers, 17 points; Hayley Tidmore, 4 points; Morgan Hanback, 3 points; Halie Loney, 10 points; Alexandria Haas, 2 points; Kyera Fletcher, 16 points.
For the boys, Spencer Palmer and Jordan Matthews each put up team-leading 24 points. Also scoring were: Roman Griffin, 18 points; Chandler Mack, 22 points; Brandon Pendergraft, 22 points; Kameron Jackson, 12 points, Zayne Riggins, 6 points; Andrew Hairston, 11 points; James William Hughes, 8 points; Nathan Wilson, 4 points; Nicholas Hall, 6 points.
