The task force created by the City of Madison to study school safety will present its final report to the City Council and School Board on Wednesday at 6 pm. The meeting is open to the public and will be held in the board room at the Madison City Schools Central Office at 211 Celtic Drive.
The task force was created in response to the Feb. 5 shooting death of Todd Brown in the halls of Discovery Middle School and is headed by state school board member Mary Jane Caylor, retired Army Brig. Gen. Robert Drolet and Huntsville City Administrator Rex Reynolds. A total of 33 people served on the task force, which solicited input from students, teachers, school administrators and the public in putting together its findings.
WAFF is reporting today that the task force will unveil a “Text to Protect” program. WAFF says the program will allow students, teachers or parents to text, e-mail or call school authorities to report troubling behavior at schools.
