Bob Jones students Jordan W. Jones and Paul Y. Lee win National Merit Scholarships
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced this week that Bob Jones students Jordan W. Jones and Paul Y. Lee were awarded $2,500 scholarships. A press release explains, “National Merit $2500 Scholarship winners are the finalists in each state judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. They were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors. These Scholars may use their awards at any regionally accredited U.S. college or university.”
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation operates as a non-profit corporation without government assistance. It was founded in 1955 to offer college scholarships to “honor scholastically talented youth.” The majority of the scholarships are underwritten by about 500 corporate and college sponsors. Bob Jones student Maria C. Dwyer was also awarded a $2,500 scholarship in April. Additional scholarships will be announced at the end of May.
