Advance EyeCare breaks ground on new location in Madison

Advanced EyeCare of Madison broke ground Friday on a new building at 102 Intercom Drive in Madison, next to Edo’s Japanese Restaurant. Dr. Amy Sanderson opened Advaced EyeCare of Madison in October 2003 at its current location of 8097 Madison Blvd.

Due to growth of both the practice and Madison the business has grown steadily, requiring a bigger workforce and office space. The new location will allow Advanced EyeCare to handle more patients with more room for on-site optical and lens fabrication.

Dr. Sanderson expects to hire additional staff when the new office opens. In addition to Dr. Sanderson, Advanced EyeCare of Madison staff includes Dr. Jessica Norris, Kevin Leaton, Sheila Clements, Meredith Easterwood and Caitlin Deemer.

She then pursued her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, which she completed in 2001. Dr. Sanderson grew up in Guntersville, Alabama. Upon completion of schoolwork she moved to Madison in June 2001 and decided to open her own practice, Advanced EyeCare of Madison, in October of 2003. She performs volunteer services to Community Free Clinic on a regular basis in addition to serving on several community boards. Advanced EyeCare of Madison was established in June of 2003 and opened in October 2003 as Dr. Amy Sanderson’s private optometry practice. Dr. Sanderson, as a female entrepreneur, decided to open the practice after working for another doctor for a period of two years following her graduation. Kevin Leaton was the only initial employee. For two and a half years, Dr. Sanderson and Kevin kept the office running with no other employees. Due to growth of both the practice and the city of Madison, business has boomed, requiring expansion of the workforce and physical expansion of office space to accommodate the thriving business. Advanced EyeCare of Madison currently employs another doctor, Dr. Jessica Norris, and three additional employees. Sheila Clements works as receptionist, Meredith Easterwood as a certified optician, and Caitlin Deemer as optometric technician. Dr. Sanderson expects to hire additional staff upon the opening of the new office location on Intercom Drive in Madison. She will continue to provide top of the line eye care to the people of Madison, Huntsville, Decatur and all other surrounding areas.

Our new facility will have room to accommodate many more patients with an expanded optical and lens fabrication. By fabricating our own lenses we will be able to control quality and cost, making our products high end, yet affordable. New technology, such as the Optomap and corneal topography, allows our optometrists to diagnose retinal conditions sooner and assists the doctors with hard to fit contact lenses. Our optical showroom will house over 1000 frames that will fit any budget. We invite you to become one of the numerous patients we have throughout the North Alabama region because we are your source for complete eyecare.
